Galileo Application Days is set for March 3-5, 2010, in Brussels, Belgium, with live demonstrations of cutting-edge applications developed for GNSS under the European Union’s 7th Research Framework Programme (FP7), former ESNC Competitions, the ESA Technology Transfer Programme, and national and regional initiatives.
Search-and-rescue application Osmógrafo won the Galileo Master prize of the 2009 European Satellite Navigation Competition October 21 at an awards ceremony at Munich Residence in Germany. Eight special topic prizes and 17 regional honors were awarded along with the €20,000 grand prize, all of which are designed to recognize the best GNSS application innovations of the year.
The Ukraine has aired interest to join the European navigation satellite project Galileo. The project however is facing increasingly competition.
The problem is that nothing works 100 %. GPS is very close, but for some users under some circumstances, “very close” is not good enough
